No.1 – Give yourself a limit
Lets say your average consumption per week is 8 units (drinks). Limit yourself to that number every week even over Christmas.  If your Christmas party is on Friday and it’s going to be ‘messy’, don’t have drink Monday – Thursday.

No.2 – Drink small glasses of wine or from beer bottles.
People subconsciously conform to groups: when it’s time for the next round you’ll generally find that everyone is on their last few sips.  If you drink from smaller glasses or bottles overall your consumption shall be less e.g. 4 bottles vs 4 pints.

No.3 – Eat beforehand.
Don’t make a bad situation worse.  Eat a large protein based meal before you start to drink, this will stop you snacking on ‘nibbles’. It will also fill your stomach, limiting the room for multiple drinks.  If you’ve got the munches after the night is over, have a protein shake when you get back home.
