4.  You need to lift weights.  Sorry if you are cardio bunny, yogi or class attendee – you need to change your ways.  Nothing makes your body look or feel better than lifting something heavy, and then putting it back down.  You may laugh, but if you want a higher sex drive, want to look better, AND de-stress, then nothing beats resistance training.  Of course I’d recommend performing some cardio with your weight sessions – everyone could do with being a ’bit fitter’.  But never rule out the effect that having a tighter body will have on your confidence and your life.

5.  There’s no magic pill.  Indeed magazines will sell you raspberry ketones, beetroot extract and juice fasts…  Yes these things may increase performance and affect your body  – but all by less than 1% (if at all).  Now if you’re a physique athlete then that could be the difference between Gold and Bronze, but for the rest of the population it’s an invisible 0.1kg on the scales.

6.  Your body doesn’t accept excuses.

If I were to ask you to go on a ‘no alcohol or junk food’ regime for 12 weeks from today, could you do it?  Or is there something you have planned that you need to attend and gorge at?  I don’t advocate giving those things up for life, although teetotal people are  surprisingly self-content!  But change requires pain, sacrifice and struggle – if you’re experiencing none of these you’re just treading water.

“Boo!” I hear you say.  I can get where I want cutting corners! Well I ask you – when did you achieve anything that wasn’t painfully mediocre using these tactics?
