Everyone is looking for a quick fix, an excuse, the easy way out. But when it comes to changing your body, whether that means adding muscle, losing fat or getting faster – you have embrace The Grind. Torturous, sweat inducing, social occasion curtailing labour! Here are the uncomfortable truths you’ve been avoiding:
1. You cannot lose weight training twice per week
If you go to the gym twice per week, you’re still classed as sedentary – sorry. 90% of your time is either spent seated at your desk, on your sofa, or lying on your bed – and yet still you race for a seat on the tube! As a novice lifter (dictated by the weight you can lift, not by the amount of times you’ve renewed your gym membership), you wont be able to burn enough calories to make a dent. You are looking at three times per week + another two days if you go on a bender. Sorry but you have to pay The Piper.
2. 9/10 times you’re eating too much
Keto, strategic starvation, gluten free, magic fat burning pills. All these cover the simple truth; cut something out of your diet and you’ll be consuming less calories – hence you will lose weight. A plate of steak and potatoes may be 800 calories, go on Keto and just eat the steak that meal becomes 500 calories. Want to lose weight, find foods that keep you full. Eat only when it’s meal time, and go hungry! The majority of the planet regularly suffer from hunger, and I’m not just talking about a few hours. Hunger does pass.
3. If you don’t plan, you will fail
I buy my protein from a company called Muscle Food. When Becs showed me the order the other day, I was shocked that it takes about a week for your order to arrive! How could this business survive with such a long lead time? Then it dawned on me, the people who use this site plan. They already know how much food they have, and know what they’ll be doing with the food that arrives. Theres’ no guess work, or ready made food – you cook, everything gets eaten. I’ve rarely see an overweight person eat out of Tupperware, but I’ve seen plenty buy their food from so called health restaurants like Leon, Pod or Itsu!
Told you it was uncomfortable reading! Look out for Part 2 next Friday
